May 2020 Reveal + Giveaway

Hey there, Daniel here again, to show off the May 2020 Reveal with a video and a giveaway. This month's new collection includes some really amazing florals and some special Father's Day sets.

To show off the florals, I used the spotlight technique. This technique features a small section of the stamped image in color, with the rest of the image in black and white covered in vellum to form the background.

Giveaway: I created another Spotlight Card using different supplies for the YouTube reveal. You can find watch it here. Colorado Craft Company will give away an entire collection of these seven stamps sets to a lucky commenter on my video. To enter, you must subscribe to my channel, give the video a thumbs up and leave a comment in the comment section on YouTube.

Card Tutorial - Daylily & Barberry

To create this card, I followed these steps.

  1. I stamped the image out twice with Gina K Amalgam Ink, a watercolor safe ink, once on watercolor paper and once on white cardstock.

  2. I painted the image with watercolors from Altenew, starting with light washes of color, then adding layers of darker and more intense colors.

  3. I focused on the lily and painted the rest of the image in a scaled back version, to highlight the importance of the flower.

  4. Next, added some shaded details with copic markers.

  5. Then, I added some details with a white gel pen.

  6. Next, I trimmed down the colored piece to a small rectangle, about the size of a business card. You could make this a circle, or oval, or position it at any part of the card you like.

  7. I popped it up on some fun foam with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

  8. Then, I cut a long piece of vellum the width of the black and white panel, adhering it to the front of the panel with double-sided adhesive tape.

  9. Next, I adhered the colored piece to the front of the vellum.

  10. I stamped a sentiment from the Insect Solid stamp set, and trimmed it down to leave a white border around it. And I adhered it to the front of the colored piece.

  11. To finish off the card, I added Fortune Teller Embellishments from Trinity Stamps.

Thank you so very much for joining me today for this reveal.
