Special Offer & Giveaway Use coupon code AMBER10 to receive 10% off your entire order at coloradocraftcompany.com Colorado Craft Company has also added 3 bundle savings combinations where you can get an additional 10% off. {Ends Monday the 13th at midnight MST} All the details to Copic color these realistic pears & Italian tiles are in this short cardmaking video. Watch here or in HD on YouTube. While you're there, I'd love it if you like, subscribe, and share it with your crafty friends! https://youtu.be/ddWMRCuW2M0 Use A Photo Reference Coloring from a photo reference is, hands down, the most important tip. If you have a photo reference, you have all the information you need to choose your Copic markers. There's no need to memorize marker combinations, simply pick markers that are similar to the colors in the photo. Copic Marker Combinations That being said, I'll still share the Copic markers I used. I stamped the pears with Altenew Frayed Leaf Crisp Dye Ink for no-line coloring. I heat embossed the Italian Tiles with WOW! Aztec Glintz embossing powder on Curious Metallic Virtual Pearl cardstock. If you've never Copic colored on Curious Metallic, you should try it. The shimmer is gorgeous! Pear Flesh Y00, E50, E31, E51, E53, Y26 Pear Skin YG03, YG63, Y26, E44 Seeds E44, E99 Stem E99, E47 Tile Grout W3, E43, W5, E15, E47 Italian Tiles E01, E13, White Charcoal Pencil Finishing Touches Y'all, I phoned in the coloring of that leaf. Lol, it's not realistic at all. Coloring the whole pear seriously stretched my Copic skills. I tried new things and really pushed myself to get the highlights and shadows right and it was worth it! But, after that, I totally zoned out on the leaf. I wanted my sentiment to match the grout. I tried the sentiment in Aztec Glintz embossing powder and it blended into the background. Of course, I didn't have a brown ink that matched. So, I stamped the sentiment first in Altenew Dark Chocolate Crisp Dye Ink and then a second time with Altenew Grape Agate Crisp Dye Ink. These two colors blended together to create the perfect brown. It's very similar to Copic E79. I used the coordinating dies to cut the pears and sentiment. Don't you love how the coordinating die cuts out the sentiment!?! I didn't add any additional embellishments as the tiles have a beautiful metallic shine from the cardstock and embossing powder. And of course, I didn't want to draw attention away from those lovely pears! Thanks so much for joining me and thank you to Colorado Craft Company for having me guest design! One winner will be randomly chosen and announced on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. All the details for this easy Copic coloring with a twist technique are in this short cardmaking video tutorial. Watch here or in HD on YouTube. While you're there, I'd love it if you like, subscribe, and share it with your crafty friends! https://youtu.be/eoym_Ov7bvM Easy Copic Coloring With A Twist Go Crazy, Stamp in Purple The first Copic coloring twist doesn't necessarily help with blending, but it sure is fun! Typically, I stamp in Copic safe black in on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb cardstock. But, sometimes you've got to add a twist and shake things up. I knew the pineapple would be yellow, orange, and brown, so I stamped the image in purple dye ink on a 5x7 piece of Curious Metallic Cryogen White. Because hey, complementary colors look great together and who doesn't love a bit of sparkle? Now, what do you do when you don't have the perfect purple ink? Well, you custom mix it of course. First, I stamped Aloha Pineapple with Altenew Cosmic Berry Crisp Dye Ink. This was super vibrant and I needed to tone reign that in. Fortunately, the stamp was loaded in my MISTI, so I inked it with Altenew Grapevine Crisp Dye Ink. Before stamping, I rubbed a bit of ink off the stamp for a two-toned look. Don't Blend, Color Adjacent Large stamps are my favorite and Aloha Pineapple is bigger than my hand y'all. In order to speed up the coloring on this Big & Bold stamp, I scribbled colors adjacent to each other rather than blending the body of the pineapple. See video for details! Copic Markers Leaves G29, G07, YG03, BG93, BG90, V04, V09 Body Y18, YR14, YR23, YR07, Y13, E99, E31, E44, W3, V04, V09 Sentiment Strip G29, G07, YG03 Table/Ground BG90, BG93 Finishing Touches This card started as 5 x 7-inch Cryogen White panel. That felt too wide. So I trimmed it to 3.5 x 7-inches to create a mini slimline or a shorty. Don't bother trying to match cardstock to your project, make your own colored sentiment strip. Here I colored G29 at the bottom, then G07, and finally YG03 at the top. White heat emboss the sentiment and pop it up with foam tape. Embellish with sequins and dye ink splatter and this pineapple delight is done! I hope you guys enjoyed this project as much as I did. Please let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks for joining me and I'll be back on Monday September 14th with Realistic Copic Pears & Italian Tiles! Subscribe so you don't miss it. Amber Rain Davis amber@notableink.comnotableink.com

  • Colorado Craft Company September 2020 Reveal + Video

Hey there friends! Daniel West here with the September 2020 Reveal. Whimsy takes the spotlight this month. A fabulous artist and illustrator from Australia, Sandra Herrgott, drew all of the Whimsy World stamp sets this month. You have to see her beautiful style and art on display over on Facebook. I have also created a video tutorial on watercoloring some images from this reveal on YouTube. For now, though, please focus!! I have a project to share with you, using the Fear Not Rose Stamp Set. I did use some of the same watercolor techniques to create this little wall hanging. Here's a list of supplies I used for this project: Fear Not Rose Stamp Set Fear Not Rose Dies Gansai Tambi Watercolors Legion Cold Press Watercolor Paper Hero Arts Intens-ified Black Ink Silver Brush Black Velvet Watercolor Brushes Double-sided Foam Tape Pitch Black Cardstock Sprout Cardstock Double-sided Adhesive Sheet White Gel Pen Gemini Junior Die Cutting Machine To begin, I stamped the rose, butterfly and sentiment onto the watercolor paper with waterproof ink. Then, following the process I showed in the video tutorial, I watercolored the image, section by section with a deep pink and bright yellow-green palette. Next, I cut a square around the stamping measuring about 5 inches and partially die-cut the rose image with its coordinating die. This leaves the floral section hanging out a little bit from the rest. Then, with some foam tape, I popped up the image onto some coordinating green card stock leaving a 3/4 inch border around the watercolor center. I finished off the matting process with some cover weight black card stock, measuring 8 x 8 inches. I hope you enjoyed this little project! I will be framing it and putting it up in my studio. And I will reference it when anxiety creeps in to wreck my day -- Fear not! The Lord is with thee, Daniel!

Be sure to check out all the blogs!! :) This is our new Big & Bold Ruby Slippers Set I used various yellow Distress Oxide inks to make the background. Distress Oxides Used: Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, Squeezed Lemonade, and Antique Linen. I also used Catherine Pooler's Midnight Ink for the shoes and the sentiment. I colored the shoes with a Copic marker ( Lipstick Red R29) before I glued the red rhinestones on. I found these on Amazon. Then I colored her legs and her socks with colored pencils. I used Prismacolor pencils. I tried to make Dorothy's socks look like they did in the movie. I stamped the shoes again and cut out just the bows. I then colored them with the same copic marker and added Nuvo Jewel Drops in translucent. I used just a glue dot to add the bows. Then I used foam tape to adhere my shoes onto the front of the card. Finished it off with a sentiment on the outside and one on the inside. Next up is the our Season Girl~Autumn-Leaves. We have already released our Summer Season Girl so keep on the lookout for Winter and Spring! If you are intimidated with water coloring, this is SO easy to do and looks awesome! All I did was get my brush wet with these Inks one at a time, then dipped my brush in water and splashed the ink onto the watercolor paper. I stamped my image in black and colored her boots using the Mandarin Spice Ink from Catherine Poolers new Spa Collection Paradise Found mini pads set. I mounted that image onto a cute little pumpkin face paper from CP's Fall Pic N Mix pack. I stamped my sentiment in the same black ink and added some ink around the edges with more Mandarin Spice. Mounted that with some foam tape. Hope you all enjoy this special Blog Hop! • Angelica Conrad

Hello everyone! We have a special treat for you all, from Angelica Conrad of MyLoveForPaper.com ENJOY: Angelica: "Do you ever come across a product that makes you want to stop everything you’re doing, and play? That happened to me recently. I had a full schedule of work to do, and then I opened my Colorado Craft Company package… and I immediately cleared my schedule for the rest of the day. (Family was ok with it, they got pizza for dinner!) I stared at my new stamps for awhile, and decided it was time to do a long watercoloring session. Then I got to work." This is Big & Bold Hope Sings Peacock. Gorgeous, right? I stamped the bird with Antique Linen Distress Ink onto Arches Cold Press watercolor paper. I taped the paper down to a board, and used the following Daniel Smith Watercolors to paint with: Phthalo Blue Red Shade, Mayan Dark Blue, Cascade Green, Perylene Green, Janes Grey, Sepia. Black and Natural Gray Zig Clean Color Real Brushes were used for the stems and pupil. I used a #8 round brush to add most of the color. this was a great size for this big bird. My first layer was wet-on-wet, (adding paint to wet paper) letting the pigment organically move. I dropped in dabs of color here and there for shading. The second layer was more controlled, I added paint first, then moved it with a wet brush. my third layer was mainly shading and details. I moved to a #6 round brush for finer details, and a #4 round brush for the brown in the eye. I picked a sentiment from Hummingbird Delight, and stamped it with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink. I trimmed the panel, and attached it to a 4.5″x6.5″ card base with foam adhesive. While I had my supplies out, I decided to do one more bird. The Tickled Pink Flamingo stamp set is so stunning, and I couldn’t wait to paint it! I did the same painting steps as above, this time stamping the bird with Spun Sugar Distress Ink. I picked the following Daniel Smith colors for my palette: Transparent Pyrrol Orange, Permanent Alizarin Crimson, Quinacridone Rose, Yellow Ochre, Quinacridone Gold, Burnt Umber, Lunar Black. Once finished, I trimmed the panel, and attached it to a card base with foam adhesive. I used another sentiment from Hummingbird Delight, This time white heat-embossing it onto black card stock. .............................................................................................................................................................. We are offering these three bird sets (including the Hummingbird shown below) for 15% off in the Angelica Conrad Bundle. It will also include FREE SHIPPING in the USA and a flat $5 fee for outside the USA, storewide. I would also like to give away a Flamingo, Hummingbird and Peacock to three of you! To enter please just leave me a comment on this post telling me which bird is your favorite and why. :)~Adrienne

  • Lovely Legs Summer Season Girl~Sunflowers with Bibi Cameron

Hi there, I hope you are having a wonderful day and staying safe. This is Bibi Cameron from Scotland, and I'm very happy to be able to share with you a couple of super simple cards using Lovely Legs~Summer Season Girl-Sunflowers stamp set. Lovely Legs~Summer Season Girl-Sunflowers stamp set is an 11 pieces stamp set that will allow you to create cards for different occasions. What I love the most about any of the Lovely Legs Collection stamps is that they are very easy to use as they provide you with a full scene that will cover the front panel of a C6/A2 card ( 4-1/4"x5-1/2" inches). No masking needed. The artwork is very original and it is just sweet and beautiful. The images are very easy to color as well. You can use any coloring medium you might have and you can apply different skin tones to personalize your artwork even more. I used Copic markers ( alcohol markers) to do relaxed and mindless coloring. BASIC COLORING TIPS I have a very simple method to color anything and this would work in the same way with any translucent, semi-opaque, and blendable coloring medium. I chose three or four colors to blend: a dark shade, a medium shade, and a light shade of the same color. I always start by applying the darker shade on the image's area where I want to have darker areas and soften the color in the opposite direction. Translucent mediums can be reapplied as needed or until you achieve the color want. You can do relaxed and mindless coloring, too. In my close up pictures, you could see that to color the grass I just did some doodles. For the fence, I applied random strokes with the markers in a linear direction and I used two different shades of marker to create lighter and darker lines. So this is easy and quick. I used Neenah solar Crest 110 LB card stock and as I used alcohol markers I stamped the images using Memento Black Ink. This is one of my favorite inks to use with alcohol markers. To achieve crisply stamped images, I used a stamping platform. I used Nuvo Midas Touch and by adding a couple of clear sequins to each card, I also added a little bit of sparkle. Last but not least, I also want to invite you to check other, Lovely Legs and Colorado Craft Company posts I have on my blog here! Lovely Legs - Cards for Mothers Big & Bold Crown Big & Bold butterflies - video post Big and Bold Perfume Bouquet Lovely Legs -Birthday Cards GIVEAWAY-We'll send one lucky winner our Summer Season Girl. All you need to do is leave a comment on Bibi's blog as to what your favorite summer flower is. We'll randomly choose a winner and post the winner on the blog on Monday. Thanks for having me today. • May 2020 Reveal + Giveaway

Hey there, Daniel here again, to show off the May 2020 Reveal with a video and a giveaway. This month's new collection includes some really amazing florals and some special Father's Day sets. To show off the florals, I used the spotlight technique. This technique features a small section of the stamped image in color, with the rest of the image in black and white covered in vellum to form the background. Giveaway: I created another Spotlight Card using different supplies for the YouTube reveal. You can find watch it here. Colorado Craft Company will give away an entire collection of these seven stamps sets to a lucky commenter on my video. To enter, you must subscribe to my channel, give the video a thumbs up and leave a comment in the comment section on YouTube. Card Tutorial - Daylily & Barberry To create this card, I followed these steps. I stamped the image out twice with Gina K Amalgam Ink, a watercolor safe ink, once on watercolor paper and once on white cardstock. I painted the image with watercolors from Altenew, starting with light washes of color, then adding layers of darker and more intense colors. I focused on the lily and painted the rest of the image in a scaled back version, to highlight the importance of the flower. Next, added some shaded details with copic markers. Then, I added some details with a white gel pen. Next, I trimmed down the colored piece to a small rectangle, about the size of a business card. You could make this a circle, or oval, or position it at any part of the card you like. I popped it up on some fun foam with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive. Then, I cut a long piece of vellum the width of the black and white panel, adhering it to the front of the panel with double-sided adhesive tape. Next, I adhered the colored piece to the front of the vellum. I stamped a sentiment from the Insect Solid stamp set, and trimmed it down to leave a white border around it. And I adhered it to the front of the colored piece. To finish off the card, I added Fortune Teller Embellishments from Trinity Stamps. Thank you so very much for joining me today for this reveal. Leave a comment below! Which stamp set is your favorite from this month's release? I love them all, so much. But the Daylily and Barberry set is my favorite.

  • Beetle Love

Hey everyone! So as you know we have all been stuck at home for a while and I really wanted to do something with this Beetle set as I just love it! I really wanted it to be super shiny so I ordered two sets of metallic markers but neither of them worked so I ordered two more sets of different brands! I am pretty happy with how it came out. My other thought was to use nail polish but I couldn't wait LOL. This was the look I was trying to get. I stamped the beetle on white card stock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I colored in the Beetle with Lelix Metallic Pens going over the inside lines of the Beetle. I used my MISTI to stamp the Beetle again over the metallic coloring. Then I cut out the Beetle without it's legs. I did this so I could pop up his body on the card. I just used foam tape to do that. I then used WOW! gold embossing powder and embossed 3 of the leaves. I stamped one set of leaves over the beetle I had already stamped on the front of the card and stamped my sentiment. Then I attached the leaves and kind of bent them so they looked like they were coming off the card. Hope you all are staying busy somehow! :) Adrienne

Deadline to enter is April 24 for prizes. Winners will be announced on Monday, April 27 on Catherine and Alexandra's blogs. Today, I want to share the Colorado Craft Company's April release with you. These fantastic Big & Bold bugs are not contagious, but they can produce some infectious smiles! I created three cards using the sets and a technique I call Watercolor Swathing! It incorporates a clean and simple composition with watercolor, but only coloring a section of the card panel and leaving large portions white. To begin, wet a swath of a card panel with a wide brush. I only get water on the section I want to color, because the ink will spread wherever the paper is wet. Next, I used re-inkers from Catherine Pooler in three colors: Lime Rickey, Fiesta Blue and Grape Crush, and dropped a bit of ink on three separate acrylic blocks. Next, with a watercolor brush, I added the green, then the blue and finally the violet to the wet swath. I made sure to mix the green and blue, as well as the blue and violet inks. And I made sure not to mix the violet and the green. This would make a muddy brown color, and I was going for a bright mix of colors. I repeated this to create three panels and dried them with my heat tool. Next, I stamped out the insects from the April Big & Bold Sets using Midnight Ink. For the beetle card, I colored in the main image with Copic Markers that match the color in the swath. I added some sprigs in Grape Crush and Midnight Ink. near the bottom. And I spritzed the panel with water to react with the inked swath. Then I stamped the sentiment, BE STILL, from the Brilliant Beetle Stamp Set. For each of the cards, I trimmed the panels down to 4 x 5.25" inches and popped them up on fun foam for dimension. I finished them all off with Jelly Drop Hearts from Trinity Stamps (one of the sponsor of this hop!). For the ginkgo card, I simply stamped the ginkgo with Midnight Ink three times over the swath. Then I shaded them in with Copic Markers. Finally, for the dragon fly card, I repeated the steps of the above cards. But for the sentiment, I heat embossed it on black card stock with Alabaster Embossing Powder from Brutus Monroe. Then, I trimmed it down, leaving an angle on the right side for interest. I popped up the strip with foam adhesive and it was finished! Thank you for joining me today! I hope you have enjoyed a double dose of my cards. I hope you'll give Watercolor Swathing a try. And don't forget to leave a comment below to enter the giveaway! Your next stop on the hop is Heidi, with Miss Ink Stamps. To celebrate this hop, Colorado Craft Company has added a new bundle option for the three Big & Bold Stamp Sets for April and is offering free shipping & $8.50 international flat rate shipping! Click here to shop at Colorado Craft Company. .
